LINTEC-IXON´s new production facility in Rio Grande Do Sul
In light of the global market´s recent economic downturn, it is critical that companies seek new opportunities in the pursuit of continuous and steady growth. Lintec GmbH, in partnership with Ixon, has been expanding its operations in Latin America, continuing the expansion of their brand globally. Recently, the German company has made significant investments in a second Brazilian production facility, dedicated to the manufacturing of containerized batch plants, known throughout the world for their advanced technology, reliability and operational efficiency.
After having finalized the planning in the second half of 2014, Lintec-Ixon inaugurated their new facility in Cachoeirinha at the beginning of 2015. A team of engineers and administrative professionals commenced with their respective tasks, with the goal to create a lean production process, utilizing an assembly line type of production process, similar to the ones seen in the automotive sector, which optimally utilizes the regions availability of experienced suppliers.
The 12,000 m2 facility is located a mere 20 km from Porto Alegre´s city center and is composed of a factory, offices, a field testing area, as well as a logistical area. Found in the industrial district of Cachoeirinha, the factory is located in the vicinity of various federal and state highways, Salgado Filho International Airport, and Brazil´s second most important sea port, Rio Grande, all of which facilitates the timely and efficient transportation of components, finished plants, and spare parts.
The factory in Cachoeirinha has initially been dedicated to the production of LINTEC´s containerized batch asphalt plants with double screen drum technology (CSD line), which have great fuel economy and highly accurate bitumen dosing systems. The factory has a production capacity of up to 18 plants per year and utilizes lean manufacturing, optimizing process efficiency while reducing our environmental impact. In addition to the assembly lines, the facility has a dedicated spare parts inventory, serving as Latin America´s main hub for spare parts and after-sales services. After all the necessary permits were obtained in the first quarter of this year, the plant is now fully operationalized and is expected to deliver Brazil´s first, domestically produced, LINTEC plant by the end of this month.
